"The Boutique" Mixed Media Canvas, Wall Art

I have a thing for old, cracked, crumbled walls of historic buildings with pasted theater signs or other propaganda.

When I chose this decoupage paper I knew I wanted to create with decrepit walls as part of the inspiration.

▪︎Step into the WWII Era, and you find two sisters whose husbands have gone off to war. They decide to open a boutique. They don't have much money so they plaster their sign right onto the wall outside their door.▪︎

The paper was decoupaged onto a 24x36" gallery wrapped canvas. Raised stenciling surrounds the paper and layers of paints were distressed. Painted appliques adorn the four corners. Resin cast appliques frame small pieces of rice paper and ephemera.
